PRESS RELEASE FOR THE WEEK OF
Aug 3 - 9, 2015
Any charges reported in this press release are merely accusations
and the Defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
8/03
Arrested: Sengdao Soukkoth, DOB 12/19/1976, of Anchorage, was arrested on the charges of Domestic Assault in the Fourth Degree, and Violating a Stalking Protective Order.
Traffic Complaint: A semi truck reportedly pulled out in front of another causing them to slam on their breaks to avoid t-boning them in the roadway. An officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle and issued a warning for failure to yield for oncoming traffic.
Camping: A Community Safety Officer issued a warning to the owner of a motor home who was parked in a no designated camping area.
Trespassing: An individual was reportedly driving by a residence a significant amount of times after formerly being trespassed from the premises.
Domestic Disturbance: A couple was reportedly shouting from a nearby residence. Upon officer’s making contact with both parties, it was determined the argument was verbal only and disorderly conduct warnings were issued to both involved.

Domestic Disturbance: Yelling between multiple individuals was reportedly coming from nearby. Upon officer’s arrival, both parties were separated without further incident.
Welfare Check: A welfare check was done by officers after Valdez dispatch received a call from a cell phone and heard a verbal argument before the call was disconnected. Upon arrival, one individual had already left the area and the other was determined to be fine.
Animal Cruelty: An anonymous report of animal cruelty was reported to the Animal Shelter. The Animal Control Officer was unable to locate anyone in the area matching the description that was given.
Lost Property: A green wallet with polka dots was reportedly lost in the Valdez area. If found, please turn it into the Police Department.
Intoxicated Pedestrian: Officer’s assistance was requested for an intoxicated employee that refused to leave the premises of a business.
Runaway Juvenile: Officer’s assistance was requested from Anchorage Police Department to locate a runaway juvenile that they believed to be in the Valdez area. VPD officer’s located the juvenile who was then released to a family friend that volunteered to drive him to meet up with his father that was en route to Valdez from Anchorage.

Domestic Disturbance: Disorderly conduct warnings were issued to two individuals after a couple yelling nearby was reported.
Lost Property: A black tri-fold wallet containing a fishing license, passport and a state ID was reportedly lost in the area of Allison Point Campground. If found, please turn it into the Police Department.
Motor Vehicle Accident: A single vehicle accident was reported on the Mineral Creek Canyon Bridge containing one female occupant with severe injuries. Officers assisted medical personnel at the scene of the accident. This case is currently under investigation.
Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on an unresponsive individual lying on the side of a roadway. Upon officer’s arrival, medical personnel were requested for further injuries. This case is currently under investigation.
Found Property: An Apple Iphone was found in the Valdez area. Please call the Police Department with further descriptors to claim.
Suspicious Activity: An employee of a local RV park requested to speak to an officer about a guest they had staying there with juveniles coming and going at strange hours. After an officer spoke with the employee, it appeared that the individual was doing nothing wrong.

MIP/MIC: Alain M. Stahley, DOB 05/03/1996, of Valdez, was cited for Minor Consuming Alcohol after providing a Breath Alcohol Content of .139.
Motor Vehicle Accident: An accident between two vessels in the small boat harbor was reported sustaining damage to both boats.
Found Property: A long board was found on the Valdez Dock. Please call the Police Department with further descriptors to claim.
Civil Dispute: An individual requested to speak with an officer about a vehicle title that had yet to be signed over to him. He was advised that it was a civil issue and that he could contact the Courthouse for further information.
Criminal Mischief: A caller reported several juveniles were burning toilet paper in a public restroom. Officer’s contacted all kids involved along with their parents.

Traffic Complaint: A red Chevrolet truck was reportedly passing vehicles unsafely in a no passing zone. After patrolling the area, an officer did not locate a vehicle matching the description that was given.
Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on an individual after he threatened self harm to himself in a public building. Officer’s later made contact with the individual at another location who was determined not to be a danger to himself or others.
Agency Assistance: An officer assisted an Alaska State Trooper with a commercial fishing boat violation in Prince William Sound.
Traffic Complaint: A motor home was reportedly swerving between the center line and the fog line while traveling on the Richardson Highway. Officer’s made contact with the driver of the motor home in an RV park, and determined he was not impaired.
Trespassed: It was reported that an individual had been camping in a public building. The subject had moved along by the time of the officer’s arrival, and the building was secured.
ATV: A four-wheeler was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed and kicking up an excessive about of dust alongside the highway. Officer’s determined the speed it was traveling at was fine, and the visibility on the roadway was also okay.
Disturbance: Officer’s assistance was requested to remove an individual out of a residence after they refused to leave on their own. Upon officer’s arrival, the subject was trespassed and issued a disorderly conduct warning.
Fireworks: Fireworks were reportedly being shot off of a boat in the Small Boat Harbor. An officer was unable to locate fireworks coming from anywhere in the area.
Welfare Check: Multiple callers requested a welfare check on a woman with three small children reportedly hitchhiking alongside the roadway with several luggage type bags. Upon officer’s arrival, multiple individuals involved were contacted along with the Office of Child Services. The family was then free to go.

Traffic Complaint: Two vehicles were reportedly drag racing through town in the middle of the night. Officers were unable to locate the vehicles based on the descriptions given.
Fraud: A caller reported possibly being scammed by their internet fiancée. They wanted to make sure the individual was real before taking it any further. This case is currently under investigation.
Harassment: A caller from out of state requested to speak to an officer about an individual harassing them via text message that reportedly lives in Valdez. An officer advised the individual to no longer make contact with the caller per their request.
Motor Vehicle Hit & Run: A vehicle driving with no lights on reportedly hit a parked vehicle alongside a driveway and did not stop. Officer’s located the driver and both vehicles involved.
MOAC: A juvenile was arrested on the charge of Minor Operating after Consuming, and cited for Minor Consuming Alcohol.
MIP/MIC: A juvenile was cited on the charge of Minor Consuming Alcohol.
Bar Disturbance: Officers were requested by a local bartender to remove an unruly intoxicated individual from the premises. Upon an officer’s arrival, the individual was walking out of the building and waiting for a cab to take them home.

Suspicious Activity: A caller reported an intoxicated individual was entering a vehicle that did not belong to them. Upon officer’s arrival, the individual did not know whose vehicle they were in or where they were. They were then placed into the care of a sober family member. The owner of the vehicle did not request to press charges.
Disturbance: A verbal argument was reportedly coming from a nearby residence. Officer’s contacted two individuals who were determined to be fine.
Animal Cruelty: A caller reported witnessing an individual kicking a dog. Upon officer’s arrival, no injury to the dog was found.
Embezzlement: The owner of a local business requested to speak with an officer regarding an employee possibly embezzling money.
