LASD Deputies bring man to safety and transport to hospital for mental health evaluation
On August 11, 2015 at 6:00 A.M. Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff’s from Parks Bureau were dispatched to Earvin "Magic" Johnson Park located 905 E. El Segundo Boulevard, Los Angeles regarding a male adult Hispanic swimming in the lake acting unusual.
When the deputies arrived at the park they attempted to make contact with the subject who had positioned himself on an island in the middle of the lake. The subject appeared to be mentally ill.
The deputies contacted the sheriff’s departments Mental Evaluation Team, Aero Bureau, and Special Enforcement Bureau to respond to the location to assist them in getting the subject off the island. The Los Angeles County Fire Department and paramedics were requested to respond to the location.
After 6 hours the deputies were able to get the subject off the island and transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.
