Two Fort Wayne Troopers and Kendallville Detective Honored by United States Postal Inspection Service
(Fort Wayne, IN)-Officials with the United States Postal Inspection Service from the Detroit Division Headquarters were at the Indiana State Police Post in Fort Wayne this morning to honor two Fort Wayne Troopers and a Kendallville Police Detective for their efforts in assisting that federal agency in numerous criminal investigations.
Postal Inspector in Charge E. C. Woodson presented awards to the following for their efforts which, as he stated, “have played a significant role in the successful convictions of several state and federal defendants”.
- Master Trooper Gary Shenefield for his work, involving the use of his late K-9 partner Beau, in over 40 investigations from July 2011 to April 2015. “As a result of Beau’s alerts approximately 143 pounds of narcotics including marijuana, methamphetamine, hashish, and heroin were seized from the U.S. Mail”.
- Master Trooper Brad Shultz for his work, involving the use of his former K-9 partner Gunnar, in over 25 investigations from September 2011 to May 2015. “As a result of Gunnar’s alerts approximately 130 pounds of narcotics including marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, and synthetic cannabinoid were seized from the U.S. Mail”.
- Detective Dwight Miller, Kendallville Police Department, for his investigative work on a methamphetamine trafficker in Noble County and for his “quick investigative assistance with the robbery at the Kendallville Post Office in April 2015”.
All three have worked closely and effectively with the local Postal Inspector “in protecting the U.S. Postal Service, our customers, and the nation’s mail system from illegal use”. “In times like these, partnerships are paramount as we work together to protect citizens and postal customers throughout Indiana and the United States” said Woodson.
