Troopers will be Working Construction Zones and School Bus Routes Promoting Safe Travel
Troopers from the Lafayette Post will be diligently working the construction zones and school bus routes to insure safety of the motoring public and kids starting back to school.
The Indiana State Police works hard to promote safe driving of the motoring public. As traffic is congested due to construction in the area, detours and the school year starting, it will be more for drivers to be patient and alert for changing driving conditions. Students driving and buses taking students to and from school will be out in the early mornings and afternoons going to and from which will add to the traffic problems. Give yourself plenty of time and use routes that may initially take you a little longer, may be the better route to travel with the extra traffic.
Due to the large volume of traffic, INDOT is providing extra money to pay troopers to work overtime to be visible in the construction zones to further promote safe driving. Troopers will also be patrolling the school bus routes in the morning and afternoon to watch for stop sign violations and other unsafe driving habits.
Another feature that INDOT is providing is the Hoosier Helpers. Their trucks will be out on I-65 southbound north of the 174 MM (that is at the SB Wildcat Creek Bridge) assisting motorist with car problems, flat tires and keeping traffic flowing in the construction zones. If you see them pull up behind you while your stranded on the road, they will be in a fully recognizable vehicle to assist in getting back on the roadway.
