BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said a Scott County Jail inmate was found unconscious Tuesday, during what appeared to be a suicide attempt. The inmate was transported by ambulance to the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau where the inmate was later pronounced dead.
The inmate, who was a resident of Redbud, IL was arrested by Miner Police on August 3rd and later transported to the Scott County Jail.
Walter said the incident is being investigated jointly by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
