Extreme Heat Warning! Use Available Cooling Centers

EXCESSIVE HEAT WAVE ALERT

"The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard office has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the following Los Angeles County in effect from 1 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2015 through 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2015.

Potential impacts of prolonged heat wave will bring the risk of heat related illness through the weekend. Those at highest risk include children, seniors and pets without adequate shelter. The heat wave will place extra demand on electricity for the Southland in addition to increase threat of power outages.

Helpful Tips:

Try to avoid the sun between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.,
drink plenty of fluids and avoid alcohol, use sun screen, check on elderly neighbors and friends who are without air conditioning, and protect pets by bringing them inside and providing them plenty of water and shade.
