DATE OF RELEASE: August 16, 2015
At 0338 hours this morning, the West Covina Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from a resident in the 900 block of Las Rosas Drive, West Covina who reported a stabbing had occurred. The first officer on scene located a male victim on the floor inside the residence with a stab wound and immediately began CPR. West Covina Fire arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as Joey Alfred Jimenez, 49 of West Covina.
The suspect was still at the location when responding officers arrived and was arrested. He is Maverick Jacob Jimenez, 20 of West Covina. He is the son of the victim. Bail is currently set at 1 million dollars..
The motive is still unclear. Detectives are still on scene as is the Forensic Investigation Unit of the West Covina Police Department.
The WCPD received initial assistance from officers of the Irwindale and Covina Police Departments.
