Three suspects arrested by the Covina Police Department for breaking into closed restaurants early this morning.
On August 17, 2015 at approximately 0441 hours, as Covina Police Officers were responding to burglary alarm activation in the 400 block of N. Azusa Avenue, a call of suspicious persons exiting a different business with crowbars was received in the same area. The concerned citizen reported the subjects with the crowbars entered a silver Mercedes SUV and was driving out of the shopping center. Upon receiving this information, responding officers observed the suspect vehicle 1200 block of W. San Bernardino Road and a traffic stop was initiated. Inside the suspect vehicle, officers located three male subjects who were not from the area and also observed crowbars, gloves, money and other burglary tools. A check of the business where the initial alarm call was received, along with the surrounding businesses, showed three different locations (all restaurants) which had front window smashes and evidence of forced entry into internal offices, drawers and cash registers.
All three subjects within the vehicle were arrested for commercial burglary and currently being housed at the Covina Police Department pending their arraignment on 8/19/15.
