29-year old woman charged for Child Endangerment after Greene County Sheriff's Deputies find her unresponsive behind the wheel of her car with her 7-month old infant inside
On Saturday night (08/15/15), Greene County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a gas station located in southwestern Greene County in the area of South Campbell Avenue and West Plainview Road after a citizen had followed a possible impaired driver to the location. The witness stated she had seen the driver of the vehicle make several traffic violations then fall asleep, slumping over the steering wheel at a stop light. When Deputies contacted the driver, later identified as LACIE L. PETERSON, they observed several signs of impairment and conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. They also located Peterson's 7-month old infant son sitting unrestrained in an unsecured car seat.
GCSO Deputies determined Peterson was unable to safely operate a motor vehicle and was arrested for suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated and Child Endangerment; she is currently being held in the Greene County Jail. After reviewing the actions from the traffic stop, the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged Peterson with:
- one Felony charge of Child Endangerment in the First Degree
(warrant #1531-CR05164, bond amount $10,000.00)
Peterson's son was released to a family member. The GCSO and Division of Family Services are still continuing to investigate this incident.
