On 08-14-15 at approximately 8:30 pm officers with the Gang Task Force observed an occupied vehicle parked in front of a residence in the 2100 Blk of Ave F. Task Force officers recognized one of the occupants as Derrick Gerard Kelly who is a known defendant on the Hoova Crips Gang Injunction. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle in the 2900 Blk of Glenwood. The second occupant was identified as Samantha Canava. As officers made contact with the occupants they detected an odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was searched as a result. During the course of the search, approximately 3 grams of Cocaine and 2 grams of Marijuana were recovered from inside the vehicle. Canava and Kelly were arrested for Possession of a Substance in Penalty Group 1, over 1 gram and Possession of Marijuana under 2 ounces. Kelly was also charged with Violation of Court Order Enjoining Organized Criminal Activity.
