According to the CDC, when your blood pressure is high you are 4 times more likely to die from a stroke and you are 3 times more likely to die from heart disease. It is important to check your blood pressure at regular intervals and know your numbers.

If you have diabetes, this, too, increases your risk of stroke. Type 2 diabetes can occur at any time. It can lead to skin and eye complications as well as nerve damage. Again, it is important to know your blood sugar number.

Bloomfield Health & Human Services, Public Health Nursing Office offers no cost blood pressure screenings at various locations throughout the month. Diabetes screenings are scheduled throughout the year at a nominal cost. If times/days are not convenient, public health nurses can provide you with referrals to other providers.
