PRESS RELEASE: K-9 Bubka

The Warsaw Police Department recently welcomed their newest officer, K-9 BUBKA. He is a two-year-old male, English Cocker Spaniel, who was born in the United Kingdom in January 2013. BUBKA initially trained in the Netherlands before moving to the United States in late 2014, and is currently assigned to the Warsaw Police Narcotics Unit.

BUBKA is a single purpose (non-biting) narcotic detection canine that is also capable of tracking. He recently finished his police training course in July 2015 at Vohne Liche Kennels in Denver, Indiana. The purchase of the new K-9 was made possible with funds received from a generous donor. BUBKA joins K-9 DAX and K-9 MAKO as part of WPD’s K-9 Unit.

Police K-9s are valuable law enforcement tools and have proven effective in the areas of narcotic detection, apprehension of fleeing criminals, and tracking. The Warsaw Police Department continues to diligently work to reduce the influence of illegal drugs in our community.
