Purple Heart Outdoor Tour procession traveling through Livermore this evening

The Livermore Police Department will be escorting the Purple Heart Outdoor Tour through town this evening at about 6:45 pm.

The procession will begin in Pleasanton and enter Livermore on Stanley Blvd. The procession will turn south onto Murrieta Blvd and continue eastbound on Fourth St. The procession will turn south on S. Livermore Ave. and continue south to Mines Rd. The procession will be heading to a private ranch on Mines Rd.

The procession will likely cause some minor traffic delays as it passes through town. There may be a military helicopter traveling above the procession as well.

Dan Hammack, a retired lieutenant colonel and former U.S. Army Green Beret, began the Purple Heart Outdoor Tour in 2008 to honor combat-wounded soldiers, Marines, sailors, and airmen by treating them to shooting and hunting events at locations throughout the United States. This will be the fourth year that the event has come through Livermore. It is expected that there will be 4-5 Purple Heart recipients in the procession.

Community members who wish to support and honor our military members in the procession can line the south or west side of the roadways for the best view.
