Don't be an impaired driver, be a designated driver. Results of Impaired Driver Task Force in Antelope Valley,
California Highway Patrol Officers arrest 23 people during a night-time Impaired Driver Task Force in Antelope Valley, likely preventing those drivers from hurting themselves or others.
Antelope Valley CHP Officers deployed during a night time operation, Saturday, August 22, 2015, to remove as many impaired drivers under the influence of alcohol and drugs or combination thereof.
Special events such as the 77th Annual Antelope Valley Fair and Alfalfa Festival bring out families from the comfort of their homes to enjoy the festivities. Tragically, every year, innocent people lose their lives to drivers who recklessly choose to drink and drive. However, this Task Force is an example of resources the CHP will continue to employ to enhance safety within Los Angeles County communities and reduce roadway deaths related to impaired drivers.
“Impaired driving remains the most frequently committed preventable crime in the United States of America; and studies show that the certainty of apprehension is a greater deterrent than the severity of punishment; and the Peace Officer is society’s first line of defense against the most devastating and preventable crime.” Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (M.A.D.D)
“It’s not worth it. Driving while under the influence is unnecessary. Call a friend, a taxi, take public transportation or call Uber.” said Antelope Valley Commander Gretchen Jacobs, “The way we see it is that you either find a designated driver or we’ll give you a ride, to jail.”
