A Saginaw woman is lodged at the Montcalm County Jail on a charge of Identity Theft.
Melinda Kay Miller, age 42, was arraigned in 64B District Court on August 27, 2015. Miller is accused of using the identity of another to make online purchases. The investigation began in February of 2015 when a Howard City woman found someone made unauthorized purchases using her bank information. The purchases were traced to the Saginaw area and eventually to Miller. The Sheriff’s Office believes Miller was able to obtain the necessary information to perpetrate the crime while she was employed at a business that the Howard City woman patronized.
Identity Theft carries a maximum sentence of five years on prison.
