Earlier this week, Burlington Police Administration was contacted by the Vermont State Police regarding an investigation into an alleged domestic assault.
As a result of their investigation Corporal Ethan Thibault, a police officer in Burlington since 2001, has been taken into custody by the State Police. Their investigation is continuing. For investigative integrity, any inquiries regarding the case should be directed to the State Police Public Information Officer.
Thibault was placed on paid administrative leave. Once State Police complete their work a full internal investigation will also be conducted.
