Suspect Arrested on Child Exploitation Charge

Lafayette-On August 31, 2015 officers from the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit, Indiana State Police Lafayette District, Lafayette Police Department, and the FBI arrested Bryan Smurr, 58 of 3076 Pheasant Run Drive, apartment 1104, Lafayette.  Smurr was taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail and charged with one count of Child Exploitation, a Level 5 Felony and one count of Possession of Child Pornography, a Level 6 Felony.

The arrest was the result of a search warrant served by officers earlier that morning.  An undercover online investigation by ICAC detectives revealed that Smurr was downloading and sharing child pornography using an online file sharing program.  The investigation is continuing.

Suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
