Early Morning Shooting in Milan Injures One-MANHUNT UNDERWAY
Ripley County-Early this morning, the Indiana State Police and Ripley County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shooting that occurred at DJ’s Bar, 203 N. Main Street, in Milan, IN that resulted in one man being transported a Cincinnati hospital with serious injuries.
The initial investigation by Indiana State Police detectives determined that the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department received a call at approximately 3:30 AM that one person had been shot at DJ’s Bar in Milan as a result of a confrontation with another man. Upon initially arriving at the scene, officers located one male who had been shot. The victim was transported to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville before being taken to a Cincinnati area hospital for treatment. The extent of the victim’s injuries are not know at this time. The victim’s name will not be released at this time. The suspect left the area prior to officers arriving on scene.
During the course of the investigation, detectives identified a suspect as William A. Russell, 43, Moores Hill, Indiana. He is 6’ 1” and 185 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. Russell has not been located at this time. He is believed to be in the Milan or Moores Hill area and possibly traveling by foot. Russell is to be considered armed and dangerous.
