ADPS responded to Albion College for reported Sexual Assault last night. Suspect incustody. Reply with TIP
This morning at approximately 4:00 a.m. ADPS responded to Albion College Campus Safety after they received a report of an attempted sexual assault that had just occurred in Wesley Hall. A student reported waking up to find a male attempting to have sex with her. She was able to fight the male off and she began yelling for help, at which time the male ran out of the room. The student was not injured during the incident.
Upon further investigation into the incident officers began reviewing the College residence hall video monitoring system the suspect was seen in another residential building on campus which was not occupied at that time. Albion Public Safety and Campus Safety officers responded and the suspect was arrested there. Further investigation determined that the suspect had broken into the second residential building. He is currently lodged in the Calhoun County jail awaiting charges.
The suspect is a 20 year old resident of Albion, but he is not an Albion College student. He was visiting another student in Wesley Hall just prior to this incident. The Calhoun County Sheriff's Department and Albion College Campus Safety assisted in the incident. ADPS and Albion College Campus Safety are continuing to investigate this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact ADPS or Albion College Campus Safety.
