Severe Thunderstorms Likely Through Friday

What is the danger?
Severe weather is entering the region this afternoon that will likely bring 1-2 inches of rainfall to most of the region. Isolated areas could see much higher totals.
The heaviest rainfall is expected between 3:00-9:00 a.m. Thursday. If this occurs, the morning commute could be much more difficult than usual. Street flooding is also possible.
What you should do:
Residents are encouraged to monitor local media for the latest weather forecasts. The National Weather Service (NWS) may issue multiple watches and warnings through Thursday morning. Residents should follow all emergency direction issued by NWS.
When driving during rainstorms, avoid crossing flooded areas. If you come to an area that is covered with water, you will not know the depth of the water or the condition of the ground under the water. TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN!
Up to the minute traffic conditions are available from the Houston TranStar Traffic Map.
In the event of heavy rainfall, lightning, hail or high winds, seek shelter indoors. High wind can turn everyday objects into missiles and lightning strikes kill an average of nearly 50 people every year. Remember: When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors!
