Northfield Township Police/Fire and Living Water Church Open House Sunday Sept 13 from 1-4 at the Public Safety Building
Last fall Chief Bill Wagner, the Director of Public Safety for Northfield Township, approached Living Water about a partnership. He was impressed with the “Absolutely Incredible Kids’ Day” event we sponsored last year.
Over 400 people came to that event. It was an amazing experience to see families from all over the area come for pony rides, a petting zoo, hear the Frozen Princesses sing, and eat free hot dogs and ice cream.
Chief Wagner heard about the event and was impressed with the community response. So he made an offer to our congregation that we partner in doing a major family event. Annually the Public Safety Office, which includes the Police and Fire Department, have an open house family event where they pull out the trucks and cars for children to explore.
In all of the exploration they are able to talk about safety in the home. When the Director saw our event, he saw a partnership.
Living Water is active in the community. Our desire, as with any of our St. Luke sites, is to engage people beyond our doors. We want to go into the world around us so people who may be suspicious of “church” or “church people” will have a different view of who we are.
The goal is that people know that they are loved and that Christ wishes to save all of us. Last year’s “Absolutely Incredible Kids’ Day” is an example of that outreach.
So, on September 13 from 1 – 4 p.m. Living Water and the Northfield Township Public Safety Department are hosting a big event. There will be a Rescue Heroes bounce house, ice cream, fire trucks, and a survival helicopter demonstration. We’re going to have a great afternoon!
You are all invited to come and spend your afternoon climbing on a fire truck and eating some good ice cream.
