On Sunday, 09-13-15 in the early morning hours we had numerous cars entered on Riverview Ave. We also had a house entered and the suspect(s) stole property and the residents car. The vehicles that were entered were all unlocked, the home that was entered had an unlocked window that the suspect(s) used to gain access to the home.
The Rocky River PD cannot stress enough how important it is to secure your property. This means locking your cars in your driveway at all times, checking your home before you retire to make sure everything is locked and secure.
Crimes such as these are crimes of opportunity, this means the criminals will prowl the neighborhood looking for unlocked vehicles, homes etc. Anything that is unlocked and easy access allows them to continue in their criminal behavior. If you have checked the news lately you will see that these crimes are happening in all the west side suburbs, Bay Village, Westlake, Avon and Avon Lake to name a few. PLEASE help us help you, lock your property and remain vigilant for anything at anytime that is out of the norm for your neighborhood. If you see anything that looks out of place, call the Rocky River PD immediately and report it.
