Weekend Traffic Stop on I-65 Nets Variety of Drugs

Jackson County-Yesterday, Trooper Randel Miller conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on I-65 near the 51 mile marker in which numerous drugs were located in the vehicle and two Kentucky residents were arrested.

At approximately 3:48 PM, on Sunday September 13, Trp. Miller conducted a traffic stop on a 1996 Ford F-150, southbound on I-65 near the 51 mile marker.  During the course of the traffic stop, Trp. Miller became suspicious that criminal activity was taking place.  Trp. Miller deployed state police K-9 Jinx.  Jinx alerted to the odor of an illegal drug coming from the vehicle.  During a search of the vehicle, Trp. Miller located marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and other controlled substances in the vehicle.

The driver, Dewayne Thomas Anderson, 55, Louisville, KY, was arrested on charges of dealing heroin, possession of heroin, and possession of cocaine, all felonies.  He was additionally arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana, class B misdemeanor.  The passenger, Tylanna L. Couts, 31, Louisville, KY was arrested on one count of possession of a controlled substance.  Both suspects were incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail where they will soon be assigned initial court dates in the Jackson County Courts.

Trp. Miller was assisted on scene by Deputy Rob Henley, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
