Wabash Man Injured in Two Vehicle Crash
Roann – Today at approximately 7:05 a.m., officers from the Indiana State Police and the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two vehicle crash on State Road 15 at the intersection of State Road 16, in which a Wabash, IN, man was injured.
The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper Dustin Rutledge revealed that Alondre Randles, 33, Elkhart, IN was driving a 2013 International semi-tractor, pulling an empty box trailer, eastbound on State Road 16. The semi-tractor stopped for a stop sign at the intersection State Road 15. The semi-tractor then proceeded across State Road 15. The semi-tractor was hit broadside, in the trailer, by a northbound 1992 Ford Econoline van. The van was driven by Holden Wiley, 25, Wabash, IN. The van was not required to stop at the intersection.
Wiley was transported to a Ft. Wayne hospital with a severe arm and leg injury. Randles was not injured. Both drivers were wearing a seat belt, which Trooper Rutledge believes prevented more serious injuries in the crash.
The crash is still under investigation, but at this time neither drugs nor alcohol is suspected as having contributed to the crash.
Randles was issued a citation for failure to yield to cross traffic.
Trooper Rutledge was assisted with the crash investigation by ISP First Sergeant Mike Tomson, Senior Trooper Bart Stouffer, Trooper Mick Biggs, Roan first responders, and Wabash County EMS.
