Greene County Sheriff's Deputies conducting death investigation of 44-year old male found deceased in front of home fully engulfed in flames
On Sunday (09/20/15) shortly after 10:00 a.m., Greene County Sheriff's Deputies were called to respond to a fire in the 7000 block of North Farm Road 209 in northern Greene County where the mobile home was fully engulfed in flames. While en route, GCSO Deputies were advised of a possible domestic disturbance involving a weapon occurring between family members at the same location.
When Deputies arrived, they located a 44-year old white male who was later identified as TONY E SCOBEE deceased in the front yard with an apparent gunshot wound.
Deputies confirmed all of the residents of the home were able to evacuate safely and were accounted for. At this time, GCSO Deputies are not searching for any other individuals who may be involved in Scobee's death as the injury appears to be self-inflicted; GCSO Detectives are still actively investigating the incident to determine the course of events.
"This family is facing a dual tragedy in dealing with the death of a family member and the loss of their home," states Sheriff Jim Arnott. "Local organizations are helping the family during this difficult time."
