SUBJECT OF RELEASE: Personal Injury crash involving a
Pickup and Mennonite horse/buggy carriage.
DATE AND TIME: September 22, 2015 at approximately 3:24 p.m.
LOCATION: At the intersection of South Townhall Road and East Boyer Road,
Bushnell Township, Montcalm County.
INFORMATION: On 09/22/2015 Montcalm County Deputies and Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene of pickup truck vs. a horse driven carriage. The driver of the buggy and her three sisters of Sheridan, were in a horse driven carriage on East Boyer Road and were in the process of turning North onto Town Hall Road when their buggy was struck by a northbound pickup truck driven by a 47 year old Fenwick woman. All four passengers in the carriage were ejected onto the roadway. Three of the buggy occupants received minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene; however, an 8 year old passenger sustained a head injury and was airlifted to DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. The pickup truck driver was uninjured. The horse was later captured and appeared to be uninjured. The crash remains under investigation by the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office.
