ARREST MADE IN CENTENNIAL BOMB THREATS

After an extensive investigation by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, the Corona Police Department (CPD) can confirm the arrest of a minor in Colorado Springs for making false bomb threats earlier this month. For details of the investigation and agencies involved please view full Joint Press Release at http://goo.gl/x5Ltck

The false bomb threats made to Centennial High School resulted in significant monetary costs for law enforcement and fire department’s response and investigation. The Corona Police Department costs alone exceeded $21,000. In addition, the cost of wages and benefits paid to the staff at Centennial, who were unable to teach due to the campus closure, and the costs for additional security, totaled approximately $20,000. The City of Corona and CNUSD officials intend to pursue restitution for those costs from the responsible parties.

“The Corona Police Department takes threats to our schools very seriously and will devote all necessary resources to investigating threats to their full potential so that people who engage in these crimes can be held accountable,” said Chief of Police Mike Abel. “The safety of our children and schools is our top priority.”
