Suspect Arrested for Child Endangerment
On September 25th, 2015 at about 7:09 am the Kern County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Beardsley School District that a school bus with two children on board (ages 7 and 14) was in the 300 block of Beardsley Avenue and there was a male subject attempting to enter the bus.
Deputies immediately began responding and while in route the subject made several attempts to enter the bus through the main door as well as an emergency door. During this time the subject also vandalized the school bus.
When deputies arrived they located 29 year old Ian Hollis near the school bus and detained him. Deputies determined Hollis was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. During the investigation deputies learned the bus driver had taken several precautionary steps to ensure the safety of the children. No one was injured during the incident. There is no indication that Hollis was related to anyone onboard the bus.
Hollis was arrested and booked into the Sheriff’s Office Central Receiving Facility for child endangerment, vandalism and unlawful entry to a school bus.
