On 09/28/2015 just after 2:00 pm, 62 year old Bruce W. Severance a wanted registered sex offender, was located and apprehended in Sawyer County, Wisconsin by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the US Marshals Service. Severance was taken into custody on a Sawyer County arrest warrant alleging a violation of Wisconsin’s Sex Offender Registry law and booked into the Sawyer County Jail without incident. Severance was also wanted out of Steuben County, Indiana for allegedly violating Indiana’s Sex and Violent Offender Registry law following a Steuben County Sheriff’s Office investigation into allegations that Severance had resided in Steuben County, Indiana and failed to register as a sex or violent offender as required by law. Once the Steuben County warrant was issued, Sheriff’s detectives reached out to Senior Inspector William Boothe who is the Sex Offender Investigations Coordinator for the US Marshals Service Northern District of Indiana, and a joint fugitive investigation to locate and apprehend Severance was launched. Severance remains held in the Sawyer County Jail awaiting extradition back to Steuben County, Indiana. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all those who provided tips and information during the investigation.
