Tropical Storm Joaquin has strengthened into a hurricane and while there is still much uncertainty in its path, people along the U.S. East Coast should monitor the National Hurricane Center and local NWS forecast offices, as well as local media, for the latest updates and be sure to have a plan in place should Joaquin threaten our area.

There is no direct forecasted hurricane threat at this time for our area, however heavy rainfall and winds forecasted for the upcoming weekend, as always, pose a threat for flash flooding and power loss.

Residents should take time and start to prepare now. Please review the Lyndhurst OEM Preparedness Guidebook which will offer an avenue of preparedness tips and safety precautions during all types of hazards, specifically hazardous weather.
