Several area departments in the suburbs are experiencing an increase in armed robberies occurring at ATM machines.

The offenders approach vehicles in the drive thru ATMs and rob the people at gunpoint.

Sgt. Dooley suggests: "Please be aware of their surroundings and be mindful of people loitering near ATM machines."

If you see anything suspicious, do not go into the ATM area, do not exist your car to get cash, and call the police.

While this is not happening in Bensenville, it is happening near Bensenville.
