Octoberfest cancelled!

Rutherford Town Revitalization (RTR) the organizers of the Hilltop Festival along with those responsible for the Overmountain Victory 5K and Tour de Pumpkin are cancelling the scheduled festival and races on October 3, 2015 due to the threat of severe weather. The tough decision was made in order to protect the safety and interests of the attendees, vendors, participants and volunteers. The festival was scheduled to be held in historic Downtown Rutherfordton and due to expected heavy rains and the potential for high winds, even providing tents and shelter cannot off-set potential risks.
“We waited as long as responsibly possible to make this decision and Mother Nature has forced our hand. It is with great regret to postpone the event for the first time in its 43 year history, but it is the right thing to do,” said Cindy Adair, Director of RTR.
The Tour de Pumpkin is cancelled and Overmountain Victory 5-K will be moved to Oct. 24, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. Please visit Rutherford Outdoor Coalition’s website for additional information.
