NORFOLK –The Elizabeth River Tunnels (ERT) Project team is preparing to close the U.S. 58 Midtown Tunnel and anticipate lowering the tide gate at approximately 11:45 a.m.

The Downtown Tunnel, which serves as an alternate route between Portsmouth and Norfolk, remains open with no restrictions.

Motorists are encouraged to monitor conditions through the media and when possible, avoid travel during the storm.
