36-year old Springfield man burglarizing homes confronted by homeowners; charged for 1st Degree Burglary and resisting arrest
On Saturday afternoon (10/03/15), Greene County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a home in the 500 block of West Rivendale after the homeowner witnessed an unfamiliar man walking through her home while she was working in the backyard. The homeowner confronted the man who was armed with a knife and he fled the residence prior to Deputies' arrival.
GCSO Deputies located 36-year old ADAM GRAVER standing in the driveway of a home nearby. Graver became uncooperative and combative; he was arrested and taken into custody after a Taser was deployed by one of the Deputies on scene. He received medical attention prior to being transported to the Greene County Jail. No one else was injured during the altercation.
Upon further investigation, GCSO Deputies determined Graver had crawled under a partially open garage door of a different residence where that homeowner also confronted him. The homeowner told Graver to leave several times before crawling back underneath the garage door.
"We are grateful none of the citizens were hurt or injured during either incident," states Sheriff Jim Arnott. "Unfortunately, it's cases like these which remind us to stay alert and be aware of our surroundings. Criminals seek out crimes of opportunity, using daily distractions to their benefit from leaving garage doors open for your pets or while you're doing yard work to leaving your car running unattended to warm up on those chilly fall mornings."
The Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged Graver with:
2 - Felony counts of 1st Degree Burglary
1 - Felony count of Resisting or Interfering with Arrest
(warrant #1351-CR06148, bond amount $10,000.00)
