10/8/15 UPDATE: The Burlington Police Department has concluded their investigation into the September 26th burglary of Speeder and Earl’s. Det. Cpl. Mike Hemond has arrested Nathan Couture (35 YOA) and Matthew Billings (26 YOA) both of Burlington, Vermont. Investigation identified Couture and Billings as assisting Senna in the commission of the Speeder and Earl’s burglary.
Couture is currently being held by the Vermont Department of Corrections and has been cited to appear in Court. Billings was arraigned on October 7th, 2015 and was released on pre trail conditions which include a 24 hours curfew.
The success of this investigation is a direct result of the cooperative efforts of the Burlington and Williston Police Departments.

During the early morning hours of September 26th, 2015 Speeder and Earl’s Coffee located on Pine St. in Burlington was burglarized. The report of this crime was made to the Burlington Police on September 26th, 2015 at approximately 7:30 AM.
During the same overnight period, the Williston Police Department was alerted to a series of commercial burglaries in their community. Ofc. Sheppard of the Williston Police made astute observations of a vehicle out of place in the area where the burglary activity had occurred. As a result, Ofc. Shepard and Officers from the Burlington Police subsequently stopped this vehicle in Burlington at which time the occupants were identified and the vehicle was seized as evidence. At the time of the vehicle stop one of the occupants, later identified as Zachary Senna, was found with a pry bar. Zachary Senna used his brother’s name during this traffic stop and was released from the scene with the other suspects. A later court ordered search of this vehicle lead to the discovery of evidence from the burglary of Speeder and Earl’s as well as evidence from the Williston burglaries.
On September 30, 2015 shortly after 12:30 pm, Zachary Senna was arrested pursuant to outstanding arrest warrants unrelated to the burglaries. The Burlington Police Department and the United States Marshals Service conducted a joint investigation, which lead to the apprehension of Senna after learning of his role in the recent burglary activity. Senna was held for lack of $4000 bail related to the outstanding arrest warrants and was issued a citation to appear in Chittenden Superior Court, Criminal Division on October 8 at 1030 hours to answer to charges of Burglary and Possession of Burglary Tools for his role in the burglary of Speeder and Earl’s.
This investigation is still ongoing and the Burlington Police anticipate making additional arrests. Burglary is a felony punishable by up to 15 years incarceration, fines of up to $1,000 or both. Possession of Burglary Tools is a felony punishable up to 20 years incarceration or fines up to $10,000 or both.
