The “Cops and Kids Buddy Card” is a program implemented by the Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station, designed to encourage interaction between deputies and elementary through middle school aged children.  Youths aged 4-12 are issued a card that has a picture of either a LASD Motorsports vehicle or the LASD Air 5 H3 - Sikorsky helicopter "Air 5".  The card has spaces for ten signatures on the opposite side.  Children are encouraged to approach deputies when they see them and ask for their signature on the card.  Once the card has ten different signatures, the child can walk into the lobby of Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station and redeem the card for a prize.  All prizes have been donated by local businesses, in partnership with the Pico Rivera Chamber of Commerce, for this program. 

“The Cops and Kids Buddy Card” encourages young people to build trust and interact with deputies in a fun way.  No child should ever be afraid to reach out and talk to a deputy sheriff or any law enforcement officer. 

Your child can pick up a Buddy card in the lobby of Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station or from their school’s resource deputy in Pico Rivera or West Whittier.
