Phony IRS calls are being received by residents demanding money be wired to avoid back taxes. Do not pay and hang up. 
Rocky River residents are receiving phony IRS calls demanding money be wired to the caller to avoid arrest for back taxes. Do not return the phone call, pay or give any personal information and hang up. All callers so far have recognized this as a scam and have not sent any money.
You may contact US Treasury Tax Inspector General at 800.366.4484 or go to www.tigta.gov. to report the scam. You can also contact the Ohio Attorney General phone scam hotline at 1-800-282-0515.
