Hydrant Flow Testing

On Tuesday October 13, the Alburtis Fire Department will be conducting hydrant flow testing. This may cause your water to be discolored from the sediment in the water system. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you do not do laundry that day. If you experience discolored water, please run your COLD WATER until clear. Running hot water will cause the sediment to go into your hot water heater. Any questions please email the Alburtis Fire Department.

Hydrant flow testing is important to ensure the hydrant is working properly and to verify the amount of water that can be obtained from the hydrant (by both recording GPM (gallons per minute) and hydrant pressure in PSI (pounds per square inch)). This testing helps the fire department to know the capabilities of the water system should an emergency arise.
