To All Modular Home Manufacturers / Wide Loads Exceeding 13’

This notice is to inform you that the traffic pattern over the bridges on Route 72 in Stafford Township is changing in order to resurface existing bridges. The first bridge will be restricted to a 16’ width with jersey barriers and will be effective on or about Monday October 19th. Additionally the more easterly secondary bridges will be reduced to a lane width of 13’6” eastbound and 11’ westbound. The secondary bridges will not be divided with jersey barriers but will require all westbound traffic to be stopped in order for wide loads exceeding 13’ to safely cross the bridges. The secondary bridge restrictions will be effective on or about Monday October 19th. These travel restrictions shall be cleared no later than May 15th, 2016.

Regardless of the lane width restrictions navigation through this area will be difficult at best. Local Police in this area are requiring a Police Escort over the bridges for ALL deliveries exceeding a 13’ width. If you are delivering a modular home/wide load exceeding 13’ to Long Beach Island you MUST call 609-494-3322 a day in advance of the delivery to notify the police and arrange an escort.

On the day of the delivery when your driver reaches Route 72 in Stafford Township there is a wide shoulder prior to the first bridge near Marsha Drive at mile marker 26. All drivers are to safely pull over into this area and call the number above again to advise of your arrival and wait for a police escort to arrive. Wide load escorts will be conducted by Police between the hours of 9am and 2pm only.
