On 10/10/15 at approximately 2214 hours the Burlington Police Department responded to City Hall Park in Burlington, VT for a third party report of an assault in progress.
Upon arrival the officers met with the adult male victim of Burlington, VT. The victim was accompanied by two juvenile friends, ages 12 and 17, while walking through City Hall Park. The victim stated he was approached by a male, later identified as Connor Christopher Lucas, who inquired about acquiring marijuana. An argument ensued and quickly escalated. The victim and multiple witnesses stated Lucas attempted to “strangle” the victim with both hands placed around his neck, causing pain and difficulty breathing. Witnesses also stated Lucas made furtive movements towards his pocket and waistband while making several statements about assaulting the victim and his two juvenile friends with a knife and machete.
Responding officers immediately located Lucas, who was highly intoxicated and placed him under arrest for the aggravated assault.
Lucas was subsequently lodged at Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility for the charge of Aggravated Assault with a weapon on $10,000.00 surety bond or cash.
