On October 12, 2015 at about 4:36 P.M., members of the Burlington Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the intersection of North Ave. and Route 127 for a reported motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, it was determined that three vehicles were involved in the crash, which resulted in property damage and minor injuries. Investigation revealed that Daniel Valyou (age 60) of Burlington was travelling north on North Ave. when he rear ended the vehicle in front of him (vehicle # 2, which was being operated by Karina Spiegel, age 29 of Burlington). As result of being struck by Valyou, Spiegel rear ended the vehicle that was travelling in front of her (vehicle # 3, which was being operated by Caitlin Kinnart, age 35 of Burlington).
Valyou was taken into custody and processed for suspicion of Driving While under the Influence. He was subsequently cited to appear at the Chittenden Superior Court – Criminal Division on October 29, 2015 at 8:15 A.M. to answer the charge of Driving While under the Influence.
