Covina PD arrests male for attempted murder after he shoots his wife in the face. Victim is in serious condition.
On October 13, 2015 at 0009 hours, Covina Police Officers were dispatched to a call for service regarding a female who was injured and appeared to be bleeding in the 1200 block of N. Citrus Avenue. The reporting party also indicated she heard the sound of a gunshot. Arriving officers located a female to the front of an apartment who was bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound to her face. Paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the location and treated the victim for her injuries and she was transported to a local trauma center, where she is currently in serious condition.
Officers conducted an investigation and determined that the victim’s husband, Raymond Guerra, a 35 year old resident of Covina, was responsible for shooting his wife and he was taken into custody without incident. A handgun was recovered at the scene.
Mr. Guerra is currently being housed at the Covina Police Department where he has been charged with attempted murder (664/187 PC) and additionally charged for an outstanding traffic related warrant. His current bail has been set at $1,030,000 and he is scheduled to be arraigned at Citrus Superior Court on 10/15/15.
