Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill
Millions of people worldwide will practice how to Drop, Cover, and Hold On at 10:15 a.m. on October 15* during the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill.
Participating in this earthquake drill is a great way for your family or organization to be prepared to survive and recover quickly from big earthquakes– wherever you live, work, or travel.
Official rescue teams who have been dispatched to the scene of earthquakes and other disasters around the world continue to advocate use of the internationally recognized "Drop, Cover and Hold On" protocol to protect lives during earthquakes:
• DROP to the ground (before the earthquake drops you!),
• Take COVER by getting under a sturdy desk or table, and
• HOLD ON to it until the shaking stops.
Specialized disaster response training is provided by the Tustin Police Department Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). This training course is offered free of charge twice a year. Email [email protected] or call (714) 573-3294 for program information and a course application.
