Narrative:

During the first week of October 2015, investigators with the Moorpark Police Department became aware of a video that had been placed on the internet depicting a juvenile male and juvenile female engaged in a sex act. The subsequent investigation revealed that a known juvenile suspect had taken two videos depicting other juveniles engaged in sex acts and placed one of them on the social media website “Snapchat.” Detectives also discovered evidence connecting the suspect to multiple counts of graffiti vandalism that had been done throughout the city of Moorpark.

On October 22, 2015, a search warrant was served at the suspect’s residence and the suspect was arrested for two counts of possession of child pornography, one count of invading a person’s privacy and multiple counts of graffiti vandalism. The suspect was lodged into the Ventura County Juvenile Hall.

The Moorpark Police Department would like to remind parents it is imperative that they monitor their children’s social interactions, their use of computers, cell phones, and similar electronic devices as well as their children’s use of social media and other internet sites. Parents should also talk with their children about the dangers involved with the use of these electronic devices and internet sites and immediately report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
