Carjacking reported in San Dimas, possibly related to shoplifting at Target store
On October 27, 2015, at about 8:30 p.m., deputies responded to the Target Store at 888 W. Arrow Highway, San Dimas, regarding a shoplifting call. A store employee saw a man in the act of stealing clothing. The man fled the store before deputies arrived, and it was believed that he fled westbound behind the store into a residential neighborhood. At about 9:30 p.m., the search for the suspect was canceled; the suspect was not located.
At about 11:06 p.m., a woman called to report that her car was stolen from the 900 block of Cienega Avenue, directly west of the Target Store. The victim, a 32 year old resident of San Dimas, said she arrived home and saw the side door of her garage was standing open. She stopped her car in front of the garage and got out to check the door, and found a man standing inside the garage. The man ran from the garage to the victim’s car, got in, and began to drive away. The victim simultaneously ran to her car and attempted to pull the man out. The man pushed the victim away and drove away westbound on Cienega Avenue. No weapons were seen, and the victim was not injured.
The victim’s vehicle was described as a dark blue Lexus IS250, California License 6KHE676. As of 10:00 a.m. on October 28, 2015, the car had not yet been recovered.
It has not been verified that these two crimes are related. The description of the suspect in both cases was very similar. In both cases, the man was described as a 20-25 year old Hispanic or white male, about 5’09” tall, about 185 pounds. He was further described as having short dark hair, with a “spiked” hair style.
