GIBRALTAR INCIDENT – BRUSH FIRE – UPDATE ALL EVACUATION WARNINGS HAVE BEEN LIFTED

EVACUATION WARNINGS HAVE BEEN LIFTED AS OF 8:00 AM FRIDAY, 10/30/2015

ROAD CLOSURES: East Camino Cielo at Painted Cave Road to Gibraltar Road and W. Mountain Drive at Gibraltar Road. These closures will remain in place due to continued fire activity in the area.

DATE AND TIME OF OCCURRENCE: October 29, 2015 at 5:16 am (call time). First equipment on scene at 6:09 am.

ACRES: Estimated to be 50 acres. Reduction in size due to improved information from air resources and field observers.

CONTAINMENT: 50%

UNIFIED COMMAND: Unified command has been dissolved and transferred to the US Forest Service.

LOCATION OF FIRE: The fire continues to burn in the Los Padres National Forest, 1/2 mile off of Camino Cielo, west of Montecito Peak.

INCIDENT COMMAND POST: San Marcos Station, Los Padres National Forest.

INCIDENT SUMMARY: The wind driven fire - located one-half mile off of Camino Cielo, west of Montecito Peak - is now 50% contained. Crews worked throughout the evening, mopping up hot spots and will continue this work until full containment is achieved.

EQUIPMENT ON SCENE: 10 engines, 4 hand crews, 4 water tenders for a total of approximately 250 personnel.

There are 7 helicopters and 4 air tankers on stand-by if needed.


Agencies involved include: Montecito Fire District, Santa Barbara County Fire, United States Forest Service, Carpinteria/Summerland Fire, Santa Barbara City Fire, Cal FIRE, Vandenberg AFB, Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management, American Red Cross, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department, Santa Barbara City Police and CHP.
