Gang Task Force Pursuit & Narcotic Arrest
On Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, investigators from the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force (GTF) Region 8 attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on a motorcycle whose rider was operating an off-road motorcycle on a roadway and for not wearing a helmet on Envoy Street at Ontario Avenue. As soon as the rider, later identified as Moses Cota, 42-year-old of El Cerrito, saw the investigators, he fled on the motorcycle at a high rate of speed. The investigators started to pursue Cota with their emergency equipment activated. They pursued Cota for about 1.5 miles through the streets of El Cerrito until the motorcycle ran out of gas at which point, Cota was taken into custody.
A search of Cota revealed he was in possession of 50.5 grams of methamphetamine separated into several different baggies. Cota was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of felony evading, possession of narcotics for sales, bringing prohibited items into a jail facility and driving on a suspended license.
