Sheriff Walter reports a Sikeston, Missouri man arrested on Drug Charges and Traffic Violations.

BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports a Sikeston, Missouri man arrested on Drug Charges and Traffic Violations.

Quinton Lipford (33) of 419 Matthews, Sikeston, Missouri has been charged with the Class B Felony of Distribution/Manufacture/Produce a Controlled Substance, the Class A Misdemeanor of Driving While Revoked, and other Traffic Violations.

Sheriff Walter states that on Thursday, October 30, 2015 a deputy made a traffic stop on a Dodge Charger in the 700 block of West Gladys in Sikeston, Missouri for numerous traffic violations. The driver (Lipford) of the Dodge Charger immediately got out of the vehicle and began walking towards the deputy. The deputy told Lipford to get back in the vehicle. Lipford refused and continued towards the deputy. The deputy stopped Lipford and asked him for identification. Lipford refused and would not identify himself. Lipford’s driver’s license was located in his pants pocket. A check of his license showed Lipford to be revoked, and Lipford had an active arrest warrant out of New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office.

Lipford was arrested and placed in the patrol vehicle. The deputy went up to the vehicle due to the driver door being open partially. The deputy looked inside the vehicle and located 2 small plastic baggies with a green leafy substance and a blue baggy in the driver door containing a green leafy substance. Both items were believed to be marijuana.

Scott County’s canine deputy arrived and advised that the canine gave a positive alert for the odor of narcotics in the vehicle. A search was completed on the vehicle. Under the driver seat was a larger plastic baggy containing 6 individually wrapped smaller bags with a green leafy substance, which was believed to be marijuana. Over $300 was located on Lipford. When asked about the money, Lipford stated he does not work.

Lipford was transported to the Scott County jail pending the filing of formal charges by the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney.

Lipford remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $3,500.00 cash only.
