Carjacking in South Pasadena, One Suspect in Custody
SOUTH PASADENA, CA – On Monday, 11-02-15 at about 6:20 pm, South Pasadena Police were dispatched to the 1500 Block of Oxley Street for an armed carjacking that just occurred. Three suspects attempted to carjack the victim at knife point, a struggle ensued and the vehicle crashed into a nearby garage. Two suspects fled on foot and another fled in a getaway vehicle. One suspect was spotted at Monterey Road and Mound Avenue. He fled from officers and a perimeter was set up in the area. Officers from Alhambra, Pasadena, San Gabriel, Monterey Park and San Marino, along with police canines and Pasadena PD’s airship arrived to assist. After an exhaustive search, however, the suspect was not located in the containment.
Simultaneously, the second suspect was spotted in the city of Alhambra and thanks to an alert resident, he was apprehended by Alhambra PD officers. South Pasadena PD officers responded to Alhambra and took custody of the suspect.
The victim sustained a minor cut to his finger and his vehicle was recovered at the scene.
The suspect is twenty five year old Oscar Anaya of Los Angeles. He has prior arrests and convictions for robbery and carjacking. The outstanding suspect is described as a Hispanic male, about eighteen to twenty years of age, wearing a light shirt, baggy blue jeans and a dark baseball cap. The suspect who fled in the vehicle was only described as a bald Hispanic male driving a tan sedan.
