NPS doing a controlled burn at the Tolleston Dunes Area south of Town and US 12. Tomorrow 11/4 beginning at 8:30 am. 
Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is planning to conduct the Tolleston Dunes Prescribed Fire on Wednesday November 4, 2015.
This 550 acres parcel of land is along the south side of US 12 in Portage. The burn area extends from near the entrance to Ogden Dunes west to the Lake-Porter County Line Rd and south to Stage Coach Road.
Residents and visitors to the area should be aware that there may be temporary road closures of US 12, County Line Road and Stagecoach Rd during the fire. Be prepared to take alternate routes through the area. Indiana DOT and Portage Police will be assisting with traffic control.
Smoke may be visible from US 12, US 20 and I-94. National Park Service fire crews will be in the area all day and into the evening to ensure the safety of visitors and neighbors.
